The Future of Computing?

Some of you may or may not have heard of this, but Microsoft made a pretty big announcement at the All Things D tech/geek conference.

Normally Steve Jobs and the folks over at Apple come up with the most creative and innovative ideas in computing, but this time, Microsoft has actually come up with a concept that definitely looks like something out of a science fiction movie. What is this marvel or modern technology, you ask? It's called Surface. Hit this link to learn more about Surface and watch some amazing videos showcasing possible uses for this technology.

Essentially, Surface is a touch-screen based computer interface. What does this mean? Well, essentially it's a computer without a mouse or keyboard, and everything is operated by touching things and moving things around with your hands. My personal favorite is the video that shows a group of people at a restaurant "dragging" menu items onto their credit cards to add them to their bill. Definitely check out the videos on Microsoft's site, and see what the future of computing may quite possibly look like. Oh, and these will available commercially before the end of this year. For $10,000. Ouch.

Anyway, I promised myself I wouldn't make too many geeky posts, but this is biiiiiiiiig news in the tech world, and I just had to post about it.

Cheers!
